Insights from Cretaceous-Paleogene Paleoenvironments and Deposition: Glimpses of the Greenhouse
Brian J. Witzke, Iowa Geological Survey
Greg A. Ludvigson, Kansas Geological Survey
The greenhouse world of the Cretaceous-Paleogene interval offers special insights into the operations of a global climate system that profoundly differed from the Holocene icehouse world experienced by human cultures. While this remains a frontier research topic, improvements in scientific understanding are needed to assess possible near-range climate futures and their human impacts. We invite contributions that illustrate stratigraphic, paleontological, geochemical, or other approaches to elucidating the paleoenvironments of the Cretaceous-Paleogene interval in both terrestrial and marine settings.
