Hydrologic and Water Quality Investigations in Floodplain Aquifers in the Midwestern U.S.

Marcia K. Schulmeister, Emporia State University
Brian P. Kelly, United States Geological Survey

Alluvial aquifers in major river valleys are among the most important drinking water resources in the midwestern U.S. Variable stream flow and sediment heterogeneity can complicate the investigation of these systems. Papers are sought from scientists, resource managers, and environmental practitioners that illustrate the complexity of characterizing hydrogeologic processes and water quality in floodplain aquifers.
