Theme Session 26
Establishing Teacher-Scientist Collaborations in K-12 Earth Science Education
Charles Spencer, Central Missouri State University
Projects that involve collaborations between post-secondary earth science faculty and classroom teachers provide opportunities for content-delivery and modeling the methods of scientific inquiry. These two areas are of particular significance to K-12 teachers whose pre-service training curriculum lacked a substantial number of science courses (and earth science content in particular). Appropriate projects might include: teacher-scientist collaborations for pre-service or in-service teachers; preparation of lessons for in-class implementation and/or content delivery in teacher professional development workshops; laboratory or field oriented projects; descriptions of soon-to-be initiated projects.
