For over five decades Wakefield Dort, Jr. has conducted fieldwork in the Midcontinent and has significantly advanced geoarchaeological and geomorphological knowledge through his many publications, reports, and presentations and indirectly through those of his students. This generous scholar has provided advice and inspiration to generations of fellow researchers and the papers in this symposium are dedicated to him.
