The Survey's advisory council is made up of 12 members from across the state who review and provide input to the Survey's scientific programs.
The meeting agenda includes an update on research in petroleum, studies of the water-bearing Dakota Formation of western Kansas, geologic mapping, and the Survey's mathematical geology section. It will also include a demonstration of electronic communication on the Survey's home page on the World Wide Web.
Survey director Lee Gerhard will provide an update on legislative and budget issues. KU Chancellor-designate Robert Hemenway will meet with the group on the morning of May 19.
Joyce Allegrucci of Topeka is the current chair of the advisory committee. Other members are David Nance, Pittsburg; John Prather, El Dorado; Steven Morris, Hugoton; Jeffrey Mason, Goodland; Robert Crangle, Lincoln; David Heinemann, Garden City; Marvin Odgers, Sublette; Richard Smith, Wichita; Dyan Conway, Overland Park; Gary Hulett, Hays; and John Havlin, Manhattan.
