The Survey is a division of the University of Kansas that studies the state's geologic resources and hazards. The twelve-member advisory council meets twice a year to provide direction and to review Survey programs.
The spring meeting will feature discussions of water-related issues, including presentations on the Survey's water-well measurement program in western Kansas, the Survey's study of the water resources of the Dakota aquifer, and a guest presentation by Hays city manager Hannes Zacharias about water issues and conservation efforts in Hays.
The meeting will also include a tour of the new Sternberg Museum and presentations on the Survey's petroleum research and geologic mapping programs.
The meeting is open to the public and will be held in Tomanek Hall on the campus of Ft. Hays State University. Advisory council members from northwestern and north-central Kansas include Jeffrey Mason, Goodland; Robert Crangle, Lincoln; and Gary Hulett, Hays.
