Data sets--GIS Data for Creating Maps
The links below contain GIS data from the KGS Automated Cartography unit.
The boundary files contain longitude-latitude pairs to create Kansas
cocunty lines, a state boundary, and the GMD boundaries. Each polygon is
terminated by a " -1.000000 -1.000000" pair. The entire file is
termianted by another " -1.000000 -1.000000" pair. There is no count of the
number of points in each polygon before the polygon starts.
You will probably have to hand edit these files to make them compatible
with your mapping software. These are text files, and are not created
for any particular mapping package.
Hold your right mouse button down when you click on the link
and select "Save Link to Disk" from the pop-up menu that appears. Otherwise
the data file will be displayed as a normal web page. On Macintosh computers,
hold your mouse button down and a pop-up menu should appear. You can also copy
the files directly from the CD-ROM by looking at the /Data/GIS
directory.
