Conclusions

Coherence and related multi-trace attributes
  • provide high quality images of faults, channels, and other geological features with minimal interpreter bias
  • may be effectively displayed in time slice, horizon slice, and 3-D views
  • are useful for mapping features which cannot be 'picked' using conventional interpretation techniques
  • are effective reconnaissance tools in frontier exploration areas
Caveat!
  • Structure and stratigraphy can be coupled
  • Morphological patterns can be misleading
