Extracting Lithofacies from Digital Well Logs Using Artificial Intelligence, Panoma (Council Grove) Field, Hugoton Embayment, Southwest Kansas
Kansas Geological Survey
Open-file Report 2003-68

Fortunately, individual lithofacies generally have a distinctive, collective E-Log response, though responses of individual E-Log curves overlap. Illustrated are lithofacies histograms for various log curves that show predictable trends for core lithofacies of the eight keystone wells. Lithofacies codes on the left are arranged with ascending k/phi ratios. Note that dolomite stands out from trends in the PE and N-Dphi curves. Nphi (not corrected for shale) - Dphi may serve as a surrogate for PE when PE is not available
