Extracting Lithofacies from Digital Well Logs Using Artificial Intelligence, Panoma (Council Grove) Field, Hugoton Embayment, Southwest Kansas
Kansas Geological Survey
Open-file Report 2003-68

Having the predicted model’s population statistics similar to the actual is just as important as having precision in discrete lithofacies prediction, particularly when it comes to porosity. In comparing predicted versus actual for the pay lithofacies (6,7,8), histograms of the occurrence of intervals having certain porosity values are nearly identical for both populations (predicted and actual) for the main pay lithofacies. The gross statistics also show a good match overall.
